BLOG MAINTENANCE

Hi all,

My humble apologies for not maintaining my blog over the last week and a bit. I am incredibly busy now on tour, and I will be right up until the end of it and until I am in Canada.

So you will all have to wait until then before I catch you all up on the end of my week in Oregon and the basketball tour :D

keep it real!!!

the flights + Oregon

OK, so my contact for our business class upgrade fell through so we were in 'cattle' class for the long haul flight which wasnt TOO bad haha. The flight began well enough, aside from the multiple possible future annoyances that were surrounding out seats (aka very very little people who shouldnt be allowed passports, others refer to them as 'babies'), at least they all made it through take off without crying. Most actually slept for the first few hours of the flight - probably because their parents made sure they were all drugged up- however as soon as these little people woke, their energy levels rose quite quickly providing much fodder for them to laugh, jump and run about. So, as a view that I have held for some time now, was reinforced on this flight and the next- TALL PEOPLE WERE NOT MEANT TO FLY!!! Dickie and I were sitting together and I convinced Dickie to let me sit in the aisle seat (for obvious reasons, more leg room). However, with the aisle came the people who made use of the aisle. This meant that the leg room was compromised by my fellow passengers who frequented the bathroom at the back of the plane (oh, we were sitting right towards the end of the plane, very close to the bathroom). The best times for maximising my leg room became the times during turbulence when everybody was asked to return to their seats - this time became uninterupted relaxing/streching out-whilst-in-seat time - I liked it when we entered in to turbulent weather from then on in :) Other than that, nothing out of the normal really happened on the fligth. Oh! There was this lady who we had encountered in security at Sydney airport making a comment in reply to one of the security officers which went along the lines of, "Oh, they dont look like boys. They're men!" hahaha, Dickie and I looked at each other with a dumbfounded/confused look on our faces and laughed. Anyway, as we were making our way to our seats (as I mentioned, we sat at the BACK of the plane) we passed most passengers including this lady. To our surprise, this lady made eye contact with both of us, and I am pretty sure she attempted a wink to accompany her extravagent smile (again Dickie and I had perplexed faces but waited till we were seated to exchange). This woman would have probably been in her early to mid 30s :.

Arrival in LAX. LAX proved to be incredibly disappointing! The majority of the airport was under construction...

ok, halfway through this post, but I have to go out now for dinner with Rachel's Grandparents, so ill continue later...

Day 1 - Sydney

Only a short post today, limited for time.
Today was a day of many firsts. 1) The first day of my journey - I've gone through many emotions today varying from each extreme to the other!!!! 2) Saw for the first time an Airbus A380 in the air - shortly after takeoff from Sydney airport I witnessed the majestic airliner flyover the city. 3) Came across my first rat for the journey :P I suspect that I shall see many rats along my travels, lucky for me that this rat wasnt interested in me rather the quite large lizard that was chasing it. hmmm...that seems to be all the things that I experienced today for the first time.
This afternoon I headed into the city and was able to take some great photos, however I left my connecting cable in the room, so you will all have to wait until I have another chance to upload any photos :D The city was great this afternoon. Many Christmas celebrations going on, even fireworks in Martin Place went off as I was on my way to St James station - quite an experience watching a fireworks display in the heart of Sydney!!!

Well, thats it for now.

Oh by the way, not sure if anyone noticed but as I was sitting on my plane in Coffs today waiting to taxi for takeoff, the sun came out in all its spectacular warmth!! (I swear the sun came to wink and laugh at me, letting me know that my chances for summer were slipping through my fingers) hahaha
